Center For Development Support Initiatives Cedsi, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, West Africa

In recent times, the resultant effect of long-term neglect has become more evident, the great toll of which is better imagined. Despite growing stakeholders interventions, there is still a wide gap towards rural women and youth empowerment as a lot still wallow in poverty, ignorance, lack of basic functional education, incessant conflicts, insufficient reproductive health information and no sustainable means of livelihood.

At the turn of the new millennium, in order to join hands with the global community towards achieving the lofty goals of strengthening the Niger Delta community folks for sustainable development, a group of professionals came together leading to the birth of the enter for Development Support Initiatives CEDSI.

CEDSI is a not-for profit, non-governmental Organization, clearly committed towards improving the quality of life of women and youths in the Niger Delta region. It currently has its headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and branches in other parts of the Niger Delta region.

CEDSI works in 5 core areas of: Agriculture and rural development, HIV/AIDS mitigation, Skills Acquisition, Functional education, Peace building, conflict resolution and advocacy and Non-profit governance e.g. Board development. CEDSI is poised to promote good governance and sustainable development in our target region through community driven, people focused, innovative, participatory and result oriented initiatives.

We believe that the present intrinsic underdevelopment, suffering and poverty levels among Niger Delta women and youths can be affected in positive and progressive ways. Thus we have committed ourselves to bring agent to bring about positive change.

Development Information Network Devnet Nigeria, Lagos, West Afrca

Development Information Network (DevNet) is a coalition of over 100 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other civil organizations that utilize development information.

It was formed in 1994, under the auspices of the British Council following a series of consultations with Development workers, Librarians and NGO practitioners in the West African sub region.

Our membership is open to those who have responsibility for information and documentation in the private sector, government agencies, parastatals, non-governmental organizations and international organizations whose activities focus on issues of development.
